Nilfisk supplied the Core 150 for review purposes. As always, all opinions shared here are my own.

Over the last few months the weather hasn’t exactly been kind, but between the rain and the usual British conditions I’ve managed to get plenty of use out of the Nilfisk Core 150. Most of that time has been spent washing my car, which is exactly the type of job this machine is designed for.

I’ll be honest, when I first started using it I wasn’t expecting too much. I’m used to more enthusiast or heavy-duty pressure washers, so I assumed the Core 150 might feel a bit limited. However, after three months of regular use, it’s genuinely surprised me in a very good way.

Nilfisk 120th Anniversary Offer

Nilfisk are currently celebrating their 120th anniversary with a special promotion. Pressure washers purchased directly from their webstore between 1st March 2026 and 29th June 2026 qualify for an extended 120-month (10-year) guarantee once registered online.

This offer applies across their pressure washer range and provides additional long-term peace of mind for buyers.

Three Months of Real-World Use

Over the last few months the Core 150 has mainly been used for regular vehicle washing. The setup process is straightforward and takes very little time.

  • Connect the trigger gun and chosen attachment
  • Attach the hose to the machine
  • Connect the power
  • Allow water to run through the washer first to remove any air
  • Once water flows smoothly, switch the machine on

That process has been the same every time and it works exactly as expected. Letting the water flow through before switching the unit on helps avoid any air locks, and after that the machine is ready to go.

Using the Gentle Nozzle for Car Washing

For vehicle washing I’ve used the gentle adjustable nozzle for pre-rinsing the car every time. Over the last three months it has been excellent.

The adjustable fan pattern gives plenty of control depending on what you’re rinsing. For example, when working around badges, trims, or more delicate areas, being able to adjust the spray pattern is genuinely useful.

The pressure delivery also feels very controlled. Instead of an aggressive burst of pressure, the washer builds up smoothly over a second or two. That softer start is a nice touch and makes the trigger feel far more controlled compared with some machines that jolt the moment you pull the trigger.

Detergent Bottle and Snow Foam Use

The Core 150 is supplied with a detergent bottle sprayer rather than a dedicated snow foam cannon.

That said, I’ve actually been using snow foam solution inside the detergent dispenser during my washes, and the results have been better than I expected.

Does it produce the thick shaving-foam style snow foam you see from professional foam cannons? No. However, the foam consistency is still more than acceptable for pre-washing the vehicle. It spreads evenly across the panels and provides good coverage before the main wash stage.

For regular car washing, it has done the job perfectly well over the last few months.

Hose Handling and Movement

One thing that genuinely surprised me was the behaviour of the hose during use.

I’ve used pressure washers in the past where the hose constantly tries to coil back up or twist on itself. That can quickly become frustrating, especially when moving around the car.

Thankfully, the Core 150 hasn’t really suffered from that problem. On a few occasions the hose has tried to coil slightly, but it has never turned into a fight to straighten it out. Most of the time it simply behaves itself and follows you around the vehicle without issue.

The unit itself is also light enough to move around easily when needed.

Nozzle Changes and Onboard Storage

Changing attachments has been simple throughout the last three months.

Swapping between the gentle nozzle, the detergent bottle, and the rough (cyclone) nozzle takes only a few seconds. Everything clicks into place quickly and feels secure when fitted.

The onboard storage for these attachments is also a nice touch. Having dedicated holders on the machine keeps everything together and prevents small parts from getting misplaced in the garage.

Pressure Settings and Control

The adjustable power settings on the Core 150 have been particularly useful when working around more delicate areas.

For example, reducing the pressure slightly when rinsing foam from trims or softer materials adds an extra layer of control. At the same time, increasing the setting provides more power when needed.

Rinsing off snow foam solution has always been quick and straightforward.

Hose Reel and Packing Away

Before using the machine for the first time, I assumed the hose reel might become frustrating over time. Some hose reels can be awkward to rewind, especially if the hose kinks or coils.

However, the Core 150 has surprised me again here.

Every time I’ve packed the machine away, the hose has rewound smoothly and without fuss. In fact, it has worked first time on every occasion so far, which makes packing the washer away quick and easy.

Ease of Use

Overall, the Core 150 has proven to be extremely easy to live with.

The trigger gun feels light in the hand and easy to operate, while the machine itself is simple to set up and put away. Even users with limited strength or dexterity should find it manageable thanks to the lighter weight and straightforward connections.

Three Month Impressions

After three months of regular car washing, the Core 150 has genuinely impressed me.

I originally expected it to feel like a basic domestic pressure washer. Instead, it has proven to be reliable, easy to use, and more than capable for everyday cleaning tasks.

In fact, while speaking to someone recently who was looking for a pressure washer for general garden cleaning and car washing, I didn’t hesitate to recommend the Core 150 for their needs.

Final Thoughts

The Nilfisk Core 150 has turned out to be a very capable domestic pressure washer. It’s lightweight, simple to operate, and delivers consistent performance for regular tasks such as washing vehicles.

While it isn’t intended to replace heavy-duty enthusiast machines, it absolutely excels within its intended role. For homeowners looking for a dependable pressure washer for car washing and general outdoor cleaning, it has proven to be a solid and surprisingly enjoyable machine to use.
