Customer Notice: Autobrite Direct Returns Across the UK & Ireland
Estimated Reading Time: 5 Minutes
If you’ve followed the detailing industry recently, you’ll know things haven’t been smooth.
Supply gaps. Inconsistent batches. Confusion online.
Now there’s clarity.
Technical Brands UK & Ireland Limited has acquired the intellectual property (IP), trademarks, formulations and associated brand assets of Autobrite Direct. The brand will now operate as:
Technical Brands UK & Ireland Limited
Trading as Autobrite Direct
This is not a surface-level relaunch. It is a structured restoration.
What Has Been Acquired?
This is more than a name purchase.
Technical Brands UK & Ireland Limited has secured:
- Autobrite Direct intellectual property
- Registered trademarks
- Original long-standing formulations
- Associated brand assets
- Supply chain documentation
- Exclusive manufacturing agreements
The acquisition followed the insolvency of the previous operating company and was completed through a formal IP purchase process.
Important Clarification
Technical Brands UK & Ireland Limited was never part of the previous Autobrite Direct Limited operating company.
- An independent reseller (AD Ireland)
- Authorised to sell Autobrite Direct products
- Not shareholders
- Not directors
- Not involved in management
They purchased the brand IP and assets only. They did not purchase the former company and have not assumed its liabilities.
Why This Decision Was Made
For eight years, Technical Brands supported Autobrite Direct customers across Ireland — retail, trade and professional detailers.
Supply instability and product inconsistency created serious risk:
- Severe supply disruption
- Inconsistent product quality
- Operational instability
- Employment risk for staff
Rather than withdraw, the business acquired the IP to secure continuity for its team and customers.
What Changes Now?
The focus is restoring what originally worked.
- Reinstating original long-standing formulations
- Returning to the trusted manufacturer (10+ years)
- Implementing strict quality control
- Ensuring UK, EU & global compliance
- Restoring product consistency
Manufacturing arrangements changed over time. That has now been corrected.
Exclusive Formulations & Manufacturing Control
- Products manufactured exclusively to Technical Brands’ specifications
- No unauthorised access to formulations
- Original supplier relationship reinstated
- Exclusive supply agreement in place
Any company claiming to sell the same formula without authorisation is misrepresenting its position.
Range Restoration & Innovation
Key legacy lines return first.
Alongside this:
- Improved formulations
- New technologies previously delayed
- Enhanced consistency
- Professional usability improvements
Restore what worked. Improve what can be better. Support the trade properly.
Historic Orders & Loyalty Points
Technical Brands was a reseller only.
They did not control previous order systems, payment processing, loyalty schemes or refund processes.
They cannot fulfil historic orders, amend past transactions, honour legacy loyalty points or issue refunds relating to prior purchases.
Customers with historic issues must contact their payment provider directly.
Website & Purchasing Information
The official website www.autobritedirect.co.uk is currently being secured and rebuilt.
During this interim period:
- General enquiries: info@autobritedirect.co.uk
- Export enquiries: export@autobritedirect.co.uk
- Short-term UK nationwide direct shipping available
UK & Ireland Distribution Plans
- Reinstating authorised distributors
- Establishing retail stockists
- Supporting trade events and detailing meets
- Building stable nationwide coverage
An official authorised distributor list will publish once the website relaunch completes.
Brand Protection & Authenticity
Autobrite Direct brand names, product names and formulations are protected by trademark and IP law.
Only Technical Brands UK & Ireland Limited (trading as Autobrite Direct) holds legal rights to the brand and its formulations.
Misrepresentation, passing off or unauthorised branding will be investigated and addressed appropriately.
Final Summary
- Original formulations restored
- Exclusive manufacturing agreements in place
- Quality control reinstated
- Clear legal ownership established
- Structured UK & Ireland distribution planned
This is not a name relaunch. It is a structured restoration designed for long-term stability and accountability.
A Personal Note from the Author
I’d like to add a personal note. I previously worked for Autobrite Direct under the old management and left on good terms. Naturally, I was shocked by the news of the company’s insolvency, but it’s been a pleasure writing this article knowing the brand lives on.
During my time, I had the privilege of being involved with some of the most iconic products naming and the AD logo, especially naming Purple Rain, Just the Tonic, and more myself. Seeing the brand now in the capable hands of Alan Lockington and the Technical Brands team is genuinely reassuring.
I’d like to wish Alan and his team all the best with this new venture. Should the opportunity arise to review the products officially, I would gladly jump at the chance. One of the main reasons I wrote this article was to support Alan and the team in raising awareness about the transfer and to celebrate the continuity of a brand I was part of almost 10 / 15 years ago, back when the traction for Autobrite Direct really began.
It’s a privilege to see the brand I helped support continue to thrive, and I look forward to seeing it grow under its new management.
